Not unless it has been incredibly elusive for the photographers since returning to steam! the Flourmill website simply says that a restoration to steam is planned.

What's the story of ownership - do the Flourmill own it, or are they simply carrying out a restoration on behalf of someone else? Did the ownership change when the North Woolwich museum closed?

229 has a page on the Flour Mill website which says it was cosmetically restored for the North Woolwich museum but an overhaul is now planned. I believe the Flour Mill proprieter loaned it to the museum after buying it from Fairfield Mabey.

229 has never steamed in preservation, though I believe that Mr. Parker intends to/is in the process of restoring it. It was sold by the G.E.R during, or just after, WW1 but 230 just made it to B.R. ownership, being withdrawn in 1948, when it was regular shunter at Colchester Docks. Whilst on matters of obscurity (and irrelevance!), I think I must have seen 230 in service- one of my earliest memories is of seeing an engine working at Colchester Docks (my mother's family lived nearby) but as I was only 4 when it was withdrawn I can't be sure- frustrating, isn't it!

Are any 4253 sales & promotion items available for sale at Tenterden Station? I may be in the area in the Christmas/New Year period.

The 4253 Locomotive Company is a separate organization from The Kent and East Sussex Railway, and so our products are not to be found in the railway shop at Tenterden.

For purchases please use the pay pall function on the website or email gwr4253@gmail.com

If you are in the Tenterden area over the holidays and would like to review progress of 4253 at Rolvenden / collect any purchases you are very welcome, please get in touch to make arrangements.

For those who haven't been following the restoration at www.4253.co.uk , the right hand water tank is now complete following a recent riveting push. The left hand tank will now be assembled, using the lessons learned from doing the right hand one! Work continues to re-assemble the rear of the frames, and the intention is to have the loco back on it's wheels by the end of the year.

Thanks for the reminder (and update); so many projects/sites in the restoration field overall, it's a bit hard to keep up!

Pity about the brake shaft, but I have no doubt soon we'll see it again and we'll never be able to tell it was treated so shabbily at one point! I am always stunned, amazed and impressed at how people are able to bring these engines back from what one is certain must be the point of no return, mechanically speaking. Congratulations to the team on their excellent progress to date, and I'm sure fruition is not too far off, now.

I believe that he owns both of the ex-Fairfield Mabey locos, and has done for many years.
