Very early into Bristol Temple Meads and looked magnificent entering the station with blasts on both whistles! Drivers Ray Churchill (Black 5) and Andy Taylor (70013) were somewhat frustrated by trains being sent out just in front of them at key points up from Penzance such as Plymouth (meant cautious climb of Hemerdon on the tail of a DMU and at Taunton where an up stopper was let out just ahead of the non-stop, the stopper being passed when it diverted off to Weston Super Mare).
Diesel hauled leg continued to Slough some 10 minutes before its booked time. Problem was that no one told the Restaurant car Chef who was left behind!! The look on his face when he returned to Platform 3 was a joy to behold. "Where is the special?" he said. "It left 5 minutes ago". "But I am the Chef on the tour" he said. "Too late now" said the FGW platform staff!! Frantic calls between platform staff and FGW control ensured that he would travel on the 2033 FGW service to Paddington in an attempt to regain the special at Reading, along with his wallet, credit cards, diary and mobile phone!! Funny thing was, that he went back out of the station and lit up a fag - sorry a cigarette which probably why he missed the special in the first place.

If they painted it Middle Chrome Green, at least it would blend in with the surroundings, and it would keep the GW faction happy. ( But would it look right without copper speartops?)

A bit late I know but heres my offering, not my best as the light went from lovely sunshine to black cloud in seconds thus not leaving time to adjust settings, well thats my story, nothing like getting excuses in at the beginning!!!!
