Blame TonyMay, he suggested it was nearly ready in .... April 2010 :lie: and that was about as accurate as most of the wibble posted since :gossip:

The exhaust from 47 500 might look like a steam engine at times. But Galatea's test run was in fact a light engine move. So there wouldn't have been much to see if the cloaking was working ok.

If you look carefully on Google Earth/Maps, you can see some of the initial tests which WCRC organised with other operators. Here's an early trial run for Eurostar, with a train sneaking out of Waterloo:

There are rumours that the system has also been deployed on the Strategic Reserve, making it much harder to find.

Looks suspiciously like you were stood at the top of a pair of step-ladders to me; I’ve a green Jubilee (Precision Paints BR Express Loco Green) 45562 Alberta 1:76 scale!

Hopefully hoping that a test run gets posted before the Lancastrian Trips. Just hoping

Has been stated in SR that it has been steam tested. Says it was in green undercoat coupled with a black tender (44932's?). Also mentions it was hidden out of view behind a row of coaches.

She has also been noted in steam again this week and moving about the yard...

A rather ironic comment taking note of subsequent events.

Am I correct in thinking that 44932 had been running with Galatea's tender recently?

The article in the latest Steam Railway (which arrived yesterday) suggests this is unlikely. However 5699 is mentioned in the pool for Compass Tours' charters in April. I think UKsteam has shown this since those tours were announced. If she's moving up and down Carnforth yard now, that suggests to me a test run in the next 2-6 weeks, depending how much snagging there is left to do, after which I suppose she might appear on any train using a Carnforth-based loco.

Running-in a new loco must be a bit of a problem for workshops such as Carnforth that don't have a preserved line attached. At Ropley or Bridgenorth, you can send a new loco out for a gentle run more-or-less when you like. The MNLPS (Clan Line) probably have it worst. When they were testing a new injector, they had to wait until midnight before they could get out of Stewarts Lane for a run around the suburbs, which made it difficult to roster a DBS footplate crew and a support crew.

Whenever the loco is due to do it's test runs and passed for mainline it will be a really treat to see a Jubilee as we've been kind of lost with 5690 being overhauled.

Elsewhere I saw that the path is actually booked "Train 5Z50 runs SX from 28.01.13 to 06/12/13". So it would seem that West Coast have that path available whenever they want, SX, until 6th December.

It does have Friday at the start, whether that's when it was posted or when the poster thinks it will run is anyone guess.

With reference to my earlier post, I think that this where I had read about Galatea's tender.

    Regards

    Andrew.

    Re: Galatea

This could make sense as 45699 has been seen in green paired with a rubbed down, lined black tender recently.
