From what I remember Scots Guardsman was a loaded test initially?

Latest news, there will be no run today, no reason, but the information is reliable.

Many thanks Ralph. Saved a wasted journey, but that's how it goes.
Hope they get her fit to run soon.
    Regards, John.

I'm guessing that someone has found this path in "the system" and put 2 and 2 together and made 45699...

    Realtime Trains

...but all it is saying is that that path is available every weekday until December.

Oh well wait for another date, it will happen when it happens!

I know a lot of people don't seem to understand the fuss about Galatea but for me the special interest is that she is one of the loco's perceived as unrestorable, like 6023 I remember her from when I was a kid and she was just a wreck which you were resigned to losing.

For that reason alone Mr Smith deserves our thanks.

We shall wait to see what flies or heads out to sea.

Well like many, I hope that it is Galatea. I also would not be surprised if the VT-Cumbrian Guardsmen becomes the Cumbrian Galatea.

Unlikely as VT has advertised 46115 so unless there is a reason that it can't work the train 46115 it will be.

As does Brian Oliver's consortium which had the balls to give her a future in the first place. I hope he'll be looking down with some satisfaction when she runs, ownership disputes or not.

True enough; however wasn't she originally bought to be a parts donor (aka Christmas tree) for Leander?

    Well said.
Putting the shenanigans to one side at least the loco is finally looking ready to run again.
This is what all parties concerned were aiming for.
Maybe one day 5690 &5699 will double head, what a memorial to Brian that would be.

Correct, she was at the SVR as potential spares for 5690 however Brian's group bought her from the SVR to restore her.

Given current ownership of the locos, I'd guess it's only a matter of time. I can imagine "Melton North" dreaming up a suitable tour plan even now! It would be nice to have something where both locos work solo and well as together. How about a special "Waverley" one Sunday? 5699 York-Hellifield, both locos both ways over the S&C, then 5690 Hellifield-York in the evening. That would also make a nice way to swap Scarborough locos

Did both locos ever work from the same shed for any length of time? If so, where and when?

Wasn't 5699 originally purchased from Barry and moved to Carnforth by the second owner of leander as a source of spares?
Although I would think who ever bought it where and when is neither here nor there really, the success of rebuilding the derelict remains of 5699 into a mainline registered loco is soley down to its current owners and the staff at Carnforth who have ploughed hundreds of thousands of pounds and untold hours of work into it!!

Yes I am an active volunteer
45690 was a Bristol Barrow Road loco for most of its BR life. 45699 was Holbeck and later Shrewsbury I think.

Who in turn had bought her as part of the deal to buy Leander from Brian which is where the confusion has come up - bought for spares for Leander as Mark says but then later bought by Brian and co for restoration.
