Has anyone seen the cover of this weeks Model Engineer? A friend of mine subscribes and showed me that Galatea is on the cover and there's a good story inside all about the history and how it came to be at Carnforth. A bit of a coup for an obscure magazine! There's a photo of it on the first (short) test run on 4th April at Carnforth. Worth a read! Model Engineer is out to subscribers now but it's in the shops on Friday. I will be looking for it in Smiths but they always sell out quite quick.

Looking forward to the photos on here of the loaded test run! Good luck :)

Thanks, forgot about that out and back path.

Looking at the weather forecast it seems reasonable but the wind is increasing from the southwest as the day goes on. Hopefully the loaded test will be tomorrow.

Interestingly, if you search RTT for trains passing Bentham today it gives two different schedules, both passing at 1228. One is the out-and-back trip, the other is the full loop via Blackburn and Preston. Looks like something is moving at Carnforth, at least. The full loop schedule shows a TRUST report at Carnforth North Junction at 1135.

I've just noticed that too, so something is clearly going round the full loop today.

Galatea dep Carnforth 1155 with only four coaches, so I doubt it will go beyond Hellifield.

Past Bentham on time no diesel on, Neil is now on his way to Hellifield to see what happens from there.

Looks like she is ready to leave Hellifield soon for full circuit.

She'd better not run early if she is doing the full circuit, I'm timing it to the minute at the moment to see her! Knowing my luck though she'll get an early path out of Preston as WCRC seem to be very good at that when it comes to moves.

Thanks for the advice - in the end I played it safe and stayed at Carnforth until she departed towards Hellifield, but I've got some good photos which I'll upload when I get home - see LMS Jubilees

For future reference, WCRC test runs usually run very early from Blackburn, arriving at Preston 1600 and back at Carnforth 1645.

I wonder when the real loaded test will take place.
