    Thanks for the footage.

Anyone going to stick their head above the parapet and say whether the valve events yet sound "spot-on" for a Jubilee?

Yes, many thanks for the footage. I watched her pass Brock on the WCML and she was looking and sounding excellent. A successful test run fingers crossed.

With it looking unlikely that 34046 will be ready for the 1st June "Royal Wessex" to Weymouth, it would be rather good to see Galatea step in here, or is it not fitted with the GSM-R gubbins needed for running down south?

I just watched 5690 videos and while I think a big hurdle has been made for Galatea I hope that today wasn't the icing on the Cake. Great run regardless.

Another video of today's run, with shots from Clapham, Hellifield, Whalley and the WCML.

Since 2008, 46115 has done but a handful of runs in the south, 48151 can be counted in less than 1 hand...
I reckon 0 chance of 45699 on this trip, and probably not to see it in the south for a while.
Back to the diet of Tangmere and Bittern, Clan Line on the VSOE.

Don't know if anyone saw it but a friend tells me the April issue of Model Engineer magazine had an article about Galatea's restoration with contributions from Bob Meanley and David Smith.

Be thankful for the locos you have regularly on the mainline in the south, compared to the 70's and 80's down there its a veritable feast.

OK I'll say it I don't think she's quite spot on.
I grew up on a diet of Bushbury Jubilee's and they all had a very distinctive beat, regular but on passing changing emphasis, I believe some call it the doppler effect.
A I grew older I cycled to Burcot to watch trains on the Lickey incline in all probability Galatea too. They all had this very regular beat very distinctive.
Very well done WCR on restoring what was a sad relic.

    Cheers Dave
