Did anyone attending Carnforth happen to talk to anyone involved with the overhaul to confirm the extent of work carried out?
For instance the extent of firebox work, frames, etc?

    Thanks

It's amazing to think that on the 29th June I stood on the footplate and the painting had not started, 4 weeks later and there she is in all her resplendant glory. =D>

Looks brilliant - but will there be enough main line work for all these returnees as well as "Tornado"

  15. This will make west cost railway co more self sufficient for steam locos aswell as being very popular as a tour haulage engine

A look at the current mainline scene suggests yes!, gauging and failures will knock out a few at any given time.

Not alot of people know this but the insides of the loco were still wet as they were only finished painting at 4pm before they started shunting the 8f.
The line up that greated the guests was by far one of the best to behold. Having 46115 and 70013 together just looked the muts nuts.
A big Congrats must go to Phil Marsh, Chris Milner, David Smith and all the other organisers for a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Last time I saw her in steam, in green, was at Motherwell, three days short of 43 years ago!

She looks absolutely stunning - let's hope she performs similarly too!

Now for Galatea which seems to be well on the way, at least the worst parts seem to have been attended to with the new wheelset and backplate.

What will the rumour mill do now????

A truly wonderful piece of work, especially for those of us too young to have caught such sights first time round - Mr Smith et al are to be thoroughly congratulated. Does anyone know whether or not any height reduction has been necessary and if so how its been acheived? Looking forward to it making a public return at the head of a train, no doubt a low key and unheralded trip in the admirable, unfussy WCRC way? The Coast road perhaps or a Dalesman?
