Well it seems like I got to Clapham nice and early this morning. About 26 hours early by the looks of things! I should've known it wasn't running today when I didn't see any smoke over Carnforth yesterday afternoon. Oh well, try again tomorrow possibly, depending if this country can manage to run a train service.

In a quick change of plan 46115 arrived at Hellifield shortly before the WCRC charter where 46115 picked up the charter's ecs path to Carnforth via Blackburn and Preston whilst the charter ecs returned to Carnforth via the direct line through Wennington.

46115 left Hellifield slightly early and was last seen ( by me ) approaching Chatburn as it crossed the A59 in fine fettle; indications are that it should be fit for use on Saturday. Word from the charter driver was that there is plenty of snow drifts on the S&C but the roads are clear - thus access to most locations should not be difficult for those seeking the classic "Snow on the S&C" shots.

I'm sure I heard a stanier whistle while I was in my lecture today. I was busy today so couldn't get out to possibly photo it. Is it due through again soon or is that it until the charter service?

I'm glad I didn't go out again today. I'd planned to go back to Clapham. By the looks of things I would have been stood there for 5 hours!

46115 did eventually turn up leaving Carnforth at 14.35 ie 2hrs 35 mins late on the latest timings (albeit 2 days later than originally planned). It was really storming here at Kettlebeck Bridge, Clapham followed by superb acceleration away from a signal stop at Settle Jct., so hopefully all will be well for Saturday.

Less snow around up there than I would have expected. I wonder what it will be like above Settle for tomorrow's trip?

According to the driver of the WCRC charter over the S&C there's plenty of snow and snow drifts but the roads were clear. Doubtless on Saturday they will be be well filled with cars but with 2 good charters about it should attract the photographers out.

Great picture! With only six she must have gone like a rocket! Bet she could give the unit timings a good run for their money with nice lightweight loads like that.
