I notice that UKsteam.info have now put the run of scots guardman up on their site.

Why put it on now after the run and why did they take it off after posting it up a few days ago?

Don't know about the posted timings but they certainly weren't the actual timings after Blackburn - it passed Hoghton about 20 minutes before it should have left there and I suspect the stops at both Cherry Tree and Preston were also truncated. Presuming this I decided a chase was no contest and went home but it has left me keen to see her on Kingfisher Tours over the S&C this summer - complete with Waverley / Thames-Clyde headboards.

They had obviously requested its removal from UKSteam. There is no reason for timings to be made public, an operator has the right not to publicise and most people with access to TRUST would not post times online. I know of one fr8 company employee who came close to being sacked for releasing information on his site(rather more sensitive). I personally would rather just keep it to myself.

Any loco which goes out onto the mainline has to have its number on it somewhere. Whether the fact they wrote 46115 rather than 6115 on it is significant or not remains to be seen. Personally I think it looks good already!

I thought mainline registered locos were given a TOPS number(?). If so, is the 'original' BR number that significant in terms of mainline running?

The TOPS number should be on inside of the cab roof, in theory it should be 98715, any other number is purely for show in modern terms.

The above has given me a great idea.

To show progressionon the railways, Flying Scotsman can wear her TOPS number, 98872, and then we can paint her in any livery we like.

[offtopic] There is a picture somewhere of a 1980's railtour showing 4472 with its TOPS number on a narrow plate attached to the smokebox door. There are also a few of the Fictitious Liveries images that show locomotives like Blue Peter numbered with their TOPS number [/offtopic]

Anyway, 46115 is getting closer to the day when it will be hauling fare paying passengers again, plus it is good to have another locomotive in the main line pool.

    Regards,

    Dan

Great video - many thanks for sharing it. How come they detached SG at Hellefield? To take water or to turn her (sorry - don't know the station or the route taken well enough!).

They had to swop sides of the station so the 46115 could take on water - They take water from the mains just outside the station on the Northbound goods loop. SG came in on the southbound loop.
