Clearly the pathing police were out in force yesterday. There were similar issues with the Jubilee Requiem.

Hi guys. Unfortunately I was on the train. I spoke to the driver on the 47 at Crewe. Unbelievably - with a Duchess and 11 he said it was there to assist because of poor rail conditions!! We even seemed to be assisted out of Crewe - no slips whatsoever. All the way to Carlisle the rails were shiny and clear with little leaf fall. Even worse at Appleby, passengers and some misguided so called enthusiasts believed it when they were told the diesel hadn't been assisting over Grayrigg or Shap. WRC are a waste of space. Buyer beware on trains this time of year if they are the TOC. Listening to SGT's clips on Ais Gill I'm really surprised. Peter Kirk was driving and he doesn't generally allow assistance. For an assisted climb it was really poor, taking almost 31 minutes.
