An earlier report on uk-rail mentions 57.315 attached to the rear. <BJ>

Correct. Don't trust a duchess on LMS track, but an A4 you can trust anywhere.. :)

Diesel on rear, but two minutes up through Watford. Bittern was running late by the time she got to Watford this morning. Only by half a minute, but shows she knows her place.

But she's not the one who needs diesel assistance. :p

The diesel at the back of the train has nothing to do with 'asssistance' as everyone knows. It's good fun to have all this inter loco company rivalry but I'd prefer to just celebrate the fact that WC is running three steam trains today and they have the crews to cover them!!

Got to reverse out of Euston back to Willesden Junction and round to Southall.

Not only is it great that WC are running 3 steam trains Big Al, but 2 and under the wires out of Euston, which used to never happen, and is still pretty rare. Normally they stick a Class 86 on instead, which is no fun.

London Euston... Your never more that 100ft from a box.
47237 is lurking there in the headshunt.

IMHO 86.259 is great fun and now of course a Heritage loco. It put in a very good performance bringing back the Jubilee Requiem on 25th October with no less than seven separate tons (see my article in HR)

Note the smiley in my message Big Al. Do you have to take everything so seriously? Of course it's good news that there are three steam hauled trains out on the national network today and I would have been happy to be on any one of then but a bit of gentle ribbing between gricers does no harm.

We are actually on the same page on this one, believe it or not. "It's good fun to have all this inter loco company rivalry........" meant exactly what it said. The power of the word and the misunderstanding of the word! As I implied elsewhere re the NE Steam debacle, what you write can come back and haunt you. Luckily there is never any malice or unpleasantness intended on here. ;)

    Good fun?

When Ralph W's contribution so far today is a film of a sharp pointy thing on HIS region. A blue one at that. On a day when a Duchess is heading south to Euston via Rugby.

He shall be taken from this place to a place of rose removal. His red rose will be ceremoniously stripped from him and replaced by a white one.

    ;)

I too ventured out to see this. :)

Caught her at Carpenders Park, going great guns in full dull & raining on the wind. Decided to "play safe" and stay at the north end of the station, as I would be under cover, and there was a local stopper due at the same time....... never mind there was already a gallery on the South end, getting wet!

As it turned out, I made the right choice....... as the Duchess turned up, the local started to depart, and seconds later ADB's Pendo came screaming past!

I have no idea what if anything the guys at the South end got..........

Any way that said, here's my efforts from lunchtime. http://daverydingphotography.zenfolio.com/46233-duchess-of-sutherland-22-11-2014

Also my mates video from the same location

Ralph W is showing impeccable taste for once. :) As for stripping him of his red rose, doesn't he hale from Cheshire - land of the eponymous cat?

Amazing! Being able to get any shot at all whilst sandwiched between those two service trains.

My advice to you is to go out and buy a few Lotto tickets tonight!

You did better than me, no such luck today. I went to the footbridge just North of Headstone Lane with a few other photters but we got bowled out but a Pendo on the down fast. Tried to make it over to Acton for the ECS as well after going via Euston but missed that too. Not a good day!

My misfortune today was driving into London but getting stuffed with traffic early this morning, missing 60019 by 2 minutes :(

Not a gambling man Mr Yeti, that's why I played it safe...... ;)

I don't bother with that footbridge, as there's usually a gallery jostling for position!

If the Duchess had been on time and not one early, I would've been wiped out by ADB's Pendo screaming South...... so. yeah, a bit of luck & judgement!

I didn't bother going to Hanwell as parking's not good at the best of times, the traffic wasn't good either and I was hungry, so went home for a spot of lunch.
