46233 - Derby - Bham New Street - London Euston - 22/11/14

Not bad, I did toy with the idea of the Inter night shot, but looks like she pulled right up to the platform end there ?.

 

As said by Mr. Knowwun, there were engineering works on the relief lines and some down trains were using the down fast. I think that some trains might even have made additional stops at Southall so that people wanting to get to Hanwell could change there and go back a stop.

A couple of lads photographing and videoing told us that on a previous occasion they could only watch from the down relief line platform as they were unable to access the platform we were on. It seems Lady Luck was on my side yesterday!

 

My final set of pictures from yesterday is now on Flickr. These were taken at Euston in the dark so are a bit grainy but, if nothing else, are a record of the occasion. This is the first one in the Photostream :

Wow that fire was hot... on this one you can see it burning hole in the firebox..
