So, running-in has started already? Fantastic! "The Night Owl" on 28th March looks quite achievable...

Who isn't excited about the return of the Duchess? It is great that she is already being run in. I'm know I'm not adding any new news developments. I just wanted to express my enthusiasm.

I love this 2009 Royal Scot Clip of 6233 and her train departing Carlisle as Tornado fans crowded the platform across from the train. Many people must have been very impressed. She stole the show for a little while.

"Tornado may be the latest sensation, but nothing can beat the power of the Duchess." That is one of my favorite sayings.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing a Brunswick green Duchess but I just wish she'd do a rail tour or two down south so us southerners could get a chance of photting her.

    46233 - The dream comes true 12 January 2012

Those of us who have been hankering for more than 30 years to see a Semi in BR green were given hope last year by the PRCLT. They bravely decided to sideline their LMS-red diehards and give the punters a chance to choose. The decisive winners were the green-backers who put their money where their mouths were and, sure enough, the first pictures of the Duchess with some green paint began to emerge.

So delighted was I with the decision that I filled in a standing order form and became a Friend of the Duchess (for as long as she remains green!). For this reason I was included in the invitation to spend half a day footplating the Duchess as she builds up her mileage accumulation on the Midland Railway Centre line - an offer I couldn't refuse, and doubtless the fee will help pay the coal bills!

It was a grey, wet and windy morning as we arrived at Swanwick Junction and we waited an hour for her to appear, as she had not been disposed of properly the night before. By the time she was ready the sun had begun to emerge and we three punters were warmly welcomed by Driver Malcolm and Fireman John. We enjoyed five round trips (35 miles) and observed what fine form she is in after her rapid and comprehensive overhaul - I can hardly wait to see her and ride behind her on the main line!

But there's been a BR green Duchess throughout the last thirty years...her name is City of Birmingham!;)

I take it you've also forgotten 46229's brief spell in green in 1998?

OK MuzTrem, I meant to say WORKING semi! And yes, I had forgotten that VERY short spell Hamilton spent in green.

    I shall rephrase my intro!

I thought semi was a de-streamlined example with the chunk out of the smokebox still present?

Might well have been, but on Crewe station in the early 1960s they were all known as semis.

I would love to see Her Re-named as City of Stoke on Trent for the re opening of the Stoke to leekbrook section, hopefully at the end of the summer. I couldnt see anything more fitting. But of course i am in dreamland. But it would bring in soooooooooo many visitors

Are the throttles on 6233 and 6201 exactly the same?
I can't recall any others to go over the firebox like Sutherland's.

Well what a helpful comment that was. We all know our transatlantic friend is referring to the regulator. So can someone of a less childish disposition please answer his question?

Later addition ....... found this photoof 6233, http://yourmodelrailway.net/gallery/155/155_200401_180000000.jpg which to me appears to be a standard LMS regulator set-up, as does this one of 6201 http://www.yellins.com/moderntransport/preserved/6201%20princess%20elizabeth%20victoria-8.jpg so I'm not sure what Mike 1522's post refers to - can you post a photo to illustrate your query?
