46233 had BR blue livery from May 1950 to November 1952

It never had a cut down cab, TPWS or air brakes (and probably a host of other aterations as well) in BR days either. Livery is only a part of authenticity.

Hear, hear! And, as pointed out above, and on the PRCLT web site, she was blue for a few years.

I'd very much like to see 46233, 6023 and 60007 lined up in blue together. It's a shame there's no blue SR loco at the moment. It's a very smart livery. Just a pity it doesn't weather well (though Sir Nigel still looks very smart...)

I'd love to see the blue, so I voted for it.

I don't think an ex-LMS loco has ever been seen in the blue in preservation, whereas we have had an ex-LNER and an ex-SR locomotive in it (60007 and 35005), and soon to have a GWR loco in the same said livery.

One from each company, wouldn't that be a perfect lineup! :)

Looking at the PRCLT website. The leaderboard for the 'Race for the Livery' looks like this:

2nd place: LMS Crimson Lake (193 votes)
3rd place: BR Blue (184 votes)
4th place: LMS Ivatt Black (56 votes)

Looks that way - camouflage green, always stands out well against the scenery I find ;)

There is a brightside, at least the BR mob won't be able to moan about her livery after that.

Hmm, i understand LMS black on a duchess isn't for everyone, but i think it suited her right down to the ground. I'm not really that surprised its losing the race, but it does sadden me to see so

Looking at the PRCLT's website the overhaul team are motoring! Tyres turned and back from Tyseley, looks like the frames are to be rewheeled before long, and the tender is back from having it's new bottom fitted too.

    I am impressed!

6233 was maintained in Rolls Royce condition throughout it's last spell on the mainline, this is where all that effort pays off!

I believe that from the start the boiler was going to be the factor deciding the time out of service. It's been said on other forums, about certain other locos, regular planned winter maintenance pays in the long term.

It would be nice to see a working Duchess in BR Blue/Green, as I never saw 46229 in service in either green or red. I'm going to try my level best to have a trip behind her in her new guise before she changes... I quite like the Ivatt Black livery, as it seems to accentuate the raw power of the locomotive. However, I feel there is a bit of a perception of 'been there, done that' that is reflected by the current poll results, whereas she hasn't run in Brunswick or Blue in preservation.

That was a big jump, I looked at the site the previous Sunday and blue was closing on green. Might be time to fill in that paper vote where all the cash goes to the trust.
