So much that so many heritage railways can learn from this sort of deal. Are they paying attention?

Today 46447 successfully passed her 'in frames' steam test, witnessed by our boiler inspector, and in the afternoon hauled an empty (save for the guard!) 2 coach trial train over the line.

The footpath to Mendip Vale is still passable and there is a good view of the line to be had, however the grass is approaching knee height in places and you would be well advised to wear wellies or similarly sturdy footwear!

All will be revealed on Sunday 26th! I will post an update on here for those unable to attend the launch of 46447.

Yes, it's currently having lots of polish applied and a warming fire.

Congratulations to all concerned in 46447's renaissance. An ideal loco for the line.

As i and countless others have said, well done to all those who have returned this engine to traffic, the ESR now have an engine very much in keeping with what ran on the line:)
, the IOWSR have seen an engine return to the island , the E1, that very few thought would, and in return another engine this one that was not thought would be restored, has now returned to traffic, by working together in this way, everyone wins,

I'll be over at Cranmore tomorrow, really looking forward to seeing at first hand what the pictures have shown to be a first class job.

It will also be a great day for the two former trustees of the Ivatt Locomotive Trust, Roy Miller and Peter Clarke. More than 40 years after saving 3 Ivatt Class 2s for preservation they will have seen two of them in steam for the first time since BR days this week. They were at Havenstreet to take a ride on 41298 on Monday, followed by 46447 on the East Somerset Railway tomorrow.

Can you amplify that comment Paul? Do you have a particular situation in mind?

46447 successfully completed one last test run this afternoon and is seen here in the loop at Cranmore, ahead of the official launch tomorrow morning.

Nothing specific but any means of freeing up the clutter of disused locomotives (and carriages) which, IMHO, disfigures all too many places needs to be investigated. The various people involved in the present instance deserve enormous credit for their actions.

She looks so clean and tidy for half a second I was expecting to see the hornby logo at the bottom right of the picture! Seriously good effort and its a real shame I can't get there today...

I'm pleased to say that 46447 has juat been launched back into traffic.

The IoWSR and ESR have also announced that 41313 will be overhauled at Cranmore, with the engine moving to the ESR in the New Year.

Wow... that's an announcement in it's self..

Is it to be overhauled for return to the IoWSR or the ESR (or both ?)

Thank you. Confirms the accuracy of the grapevine in this instance! (Thank you grapevine also)

As Mr. Punch puts it "That's the way to do it".

Roy and Peter of the Ivatt Trust are having quite a momentous week! Last Monday they were at Havenstreet riding on 41298, today 46447 is launched at Cranmore and the deal to overhaul 41313 at Cranmore for the IOWSR is announced.

Arrived back after a successful day at Cranmore. Brilliant day with plenty of opportunities to photograph 46447 in the confines of the station thanks to the friendly staff.
Managed to also get my shot of 46447 leaving mendip vale along the path, which is more like an uneven trench from world war two! But I survived!
Many Thanks and good luck with 41313, can we get 41298 over for its relaunch in a few years time, have all the ivatts together? That would be a great site!
