One of our numbers recently headed up to the National Railway Museum (NRM) at York, to do a little bit of background research into the history of 47357 as she travelled through the ages.

In the two hours spent researching we found a lot out about the history of the engine, including her bases, stabling locations and the diagrams she worked. We were also lucky enough to come across an original works card dated from 1926, this told us her day to day mileage and what maintenance was carried out, including several boiler changes.

We were also fortunate enough to find some excellent technical drawings of the “3F” model as well as various appendices, logs and official observations taken as she was put through her daily paces.

Whilst the NRM would not allow to us bring back any of the material from their archives, pictures and notes have been taken to document the information, some photos are available in our media pages on the website :47357 Jinty Appeal

All round it was an excellent trip giving us a fantastic insight into the hidden history of 47357.

While the updates are appreciated, would it be possible to have one ongoing thread (perhaps in the more appropriate 'Steam Traction' subforum) instead of a new one for each update?

    Regards,
    Chris
