It will be a few years yet before 27007 is ready for traffic, and I'm not certain 45132 will be ready for next year, but a gala is a possibility nonetheless.

Was started within 1/2 hour of arrival, and pottered off to Ropley not long afterwards in company with 850. Nice to see it home.

Captain Bill (33109) is alive and well at Bury on the ELR.

Glad to hear that Lion has not only arrived safely but started and is now back home!

No, 33109 wasn't sold to Fragonset. It was swapped for a coach, that Fragonset didn't own.

That's not the full story, but I think that it is all water under the bridge and no good will come of airing it all.

With luck the 50 may go for a little trundle this week LE. We'll see.

You are quite right on both counts; it isn't the complete sorry story. But it is an accurate summary. The good news is that the architects of the "deal" were removed from any kind of management position at MHR a few years ago. MHR goes from strength to strength without them. It's a shame that John Newman lost his loco.

I couldnt agree more about John however he didnt have to loose it as help was at hand but not taken up in both locos cases. 33109 and 33208.

Slightly off topic but as it's been mentioned here, does anyone have any updates on 33208? It seems to have been away a long time now. Any update would be gratefully received.

33208 has had the wheelsets replaced in one bogie. A first in preservation I think. This entailed remetalling the sus bearings that support the traction motors. In addition the bogie has had all brake gear refurbished. The bogie is expected to be refitted very soon. The power unit overhaul has also been commenced. There are body work repairs and the other bogie to overhaul before the loco is started and re-commissioned, which may reveal other things needing attention. It won't be returning to service quickly.

I fear that far greater work has been completed on other preserved Cromptons notably 71A Groups (the third of the locos) D6515/33012. However 33208 was in excellent nick when we purchased it for MHR and Main line use. it didnt last however!as can be seen from the list thats being done away from the railway. Back to 50027 sorry.

Look forward to seeing 33208 back at the MHR. Has anyone got any news on what's happening to 33012 at Eastleigh?
