I realise that but you could argue the same regarding GWR Livered engines - How many people actually remember them? Also where I live the biggest local event is a medieval
festival celebrating the battle of Tewkesbury (during the war of the roses) in 1471. I think you would be hard pressed to find anybody who remembers that first hand!!!.

Timing is of the essence though - an event like this needs to happen sooner rather than later.
the deaths of the last Tommy's is still fresh in peoples minds and suitable engines are etheir available or due soon.

Also looking to the future - Less and less will remember steam (and ww2) in everyday life so these things will become less important.

I was actually referring to the number of people who do WW1 living history (ie as members of a group, vehicle owners, people that just own the uniform and wear it now and then at events) as opposed to those that do WW2, not those who actually remember it....

Maybe if, the Betton Grange men decided to do another Steel, Steam & Stars, then maybe they could repaint 5322 (like 9017) in to BR lined green as that would be very 'Cambrian', maybe surported by 3205, 6430, 5199, and 7822...

But I doubt it will happen now, as I have jinked it!!!!
