According to our local free paper (The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Review), 5521... sorry, that would be "The Prairie Tank Engine 5521", is due to appear at the Dean Forest Railway over the weekend of 13th/14th June. There is an event to mark 200 years since the Commoners Motion for a Bill allowing a railway in the Forest was signed.

    See the article here.

A fairly typical example of journalist-speak, but I was amused by:

    That should be interesting....

    What about this eh?

"A diesel 9521 class 14 train will also be pulling freight. Several of these trains worked over the branch before the line shut."

    Always the bridesmaid, never the....etc. #-o #-o

I think she is on passenger duties cause it says on that paper internet page that all three engines work the autocoach. This is probably wrong though cause it doesn't mention the Mark 1s anywhere and they will for sure run them. We will have to wait for the WTT.

I was more amused by the description...! "A diesel 9521 class 14 train". ](*,)

Anyway it will be nice to see the Prairie. Even better if it works with the 14. I'll have to brush up on my Polish...

5521 was on the back of a low loader heading West down the M62 this morning, by about 07:20 it was midway between junctions 39 and 38.

Nowt so complicated Guv ! Simply Pietr the Prairie ( or Pietra if you want a girls name ) and make the driver wear a Polish style moustache to add to the effect but don't go too overboard by using Polish coal unless it's been sifted to remove the lumps !

It's a pity it didnt gain any souvenir from Poland.. ie. a Polish PKP Eagle crest on the cabside :) perhaps..

But it left under a little cloud (I.e. W.E. claiming to have lost their shirts on it) and a discussion about if the Parade was actually going to happen and finally the trauma of it's last train from Wolsztyn, pity really as it's previous activities in the last 2 years made a huge difference to preservation motivation in Poland.

I noticed when it left Poznan on it's last trip the air compressor had been disconnected (in situe) and the air pipes on the front removed, it had it's air provided by the EU07 and just used the brake in the cab to control the train.

Still it's a little tank with a place in history

5521 won't be going to the Dean Forest Railway now, instead 30587 is visiting for the gala over the 13/14 June.

I was also in the NRM today, anyone connected with the loco tell me why it was in steam?

And when was the last time a locomotive was on that timetable in light steam?

You are more observant than me! Didn't notice it was in steam.
Perhaps it's for a remake of Titfield Thunderbolt?[attachment=0:3u00t66u]tft.mp3[/attachment:3u00t66u]

Don't know about light steam, but we used to turn the Scarboro Spa locos in steam on the table in 04/05/06 before hours
