    Running over US railroads would be complicated, starting with the need for Buckeye couplings, braking etc.

    The cost of their "own train" would be high and as a result they would probably be tripped amongst several (very very) long freight trains (over a mile long in some cases) and could take many many weeks to reach Halifax. Going by road would be simpler, cheaper, faster and probably safer.

    A flat car by rail makes total sense in the US.. height certainly not being a problem state side.. they run container trains that are double stacked containers.
