    ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA

    as built a A4 & tender 165 Tons

as built Duchess & tender 162 tons

What they are nowadays i do not know

    60009 last at Scarborough 2008

How do you find the weight limit of the bridge at York?

It's more to do with axle loading than all-up weight, isn't it?

Either way, if the Ouse bridge now has serious load limitations on it, then this has serious implications for flexibility of pool operations when looking at Scarborough bound trains.

Notes from Ian Allan Combined Volume 1961/2

    A4 Loco weight = 102 tons 19 cwt; Duchess Loco only weight = 105 tons 5 cwt

As noted by MarkinDurham the real limirt is the axle-load and that can be varied by spring adjustments. Needs a Network Rail person to identify current llimit and the currenmt operators to argue whether they can meet ity buy adjustments or expect Network Rail to spend money on strengthening it.

Its not a matter of expect Fred - Network Rail have a legal duty to keep the network in a condition capable of carrying the traffic offering at Vesting Date - 01/4/1994 or seeking an opt out under Network Change procedures

If they haven't obtained a legal derogation then the user TOCs should be applying pressure to get them to comply with their obligations.

Network Rail have dealt with this matter, via the Network Change procedure; they also advised, specifically, which locomotives can and cannot be used, until repairs are effected.

Thanks James. By implication, then, it's a short-term problem. Any suggestion when the restriction will be lifted? Obviously not until after the summer season...

Meanwhile, back at Crewe, no new news ;-)

All the pictures of the overhaul are on 60009 's "Facebook" do not quite know why they have not been posted on a public forum..........
Anyway from what I have read, the boiler work has been completed, and a hydraulic test was scheduled for last / this week, followed by the statutory steam test.
From the pictures the wheels are back on the chassis, with the con rods back in place, she has had a new smoke box fabricated, and looks like the tender is all but complete.
So I would suggest that all things being equal wont be long before we hear the chime whistle again !

Surely if you are going by the facebook group and unless there is more than one this is the latest news posted yesterday:

'60009 has passed her hydraulic test and steam testing will begin next week which is brilliant news!'

Simple response Kieran, I was aware of the "facebook" for number 9, however not every one participates in social network sites such as facebook, by chance my daughter was using face book, and I asked her to check out No9, and found the status so far.....
