Haven't seen a thread about this yet, so I thought I'd be helpful (innocent face) and start one. DBS are doing it, what with the other firm being busy in Court that week. Should be a magnificent sight - an A3 back under Cubitt's magnificent roof, with a proper Traction Inspector on board and only a 3679200 minutes late start, which might be a record for the class, if not the industry. Shame about the sludge green, but it will be nice for the old people who remember steam on BR when it wasn't all grey and leaking,

Of course the whole enterprise depends on David Smith playing nicely about the test programme, (which DBS is less keen in resourcing unless they have to), and him not throwing a tantrum about such a prestige job being taken off him. At this point one of NP's more reliable posters is almost bound to pop up and mention 35o28 and the Statesman. You know who you are. No need to tastelessly bring that up again. Time to move on. Rejoice!

Let's hope there is no tantrum given where it is presently stabled.

I have in my mind (but I admit that it may just be wishful thinking rather than a verifiable fact) that this is the run where it is hoped that there will be a synchronised departure from Kings Cross alongside a Virgin service. No doubt, all will be revealed in due course. I also presume that as this is a positioning move prior to the photo-shoots at the NRM over that weekend, the return trip will be with modern traction.

Disappointing that WCRC may not be the TOC for this - if that is the case.
Curious as to know how the poster confirms the TOC will be DBS? And confirms the date? - data protection act springs to mind; which the NRM has not confirmed - but seems the obvious date, although the paint may be just touch dry!
However, on the plus side WCRC will be the TOC for FS first main line runs, on the usual test circuit, and the CME on the 6th February, so they will get the honours.

Judging by the way that the other tours have sold out, once confirmed it will be a mad scramble for tickets - or does anybody know if this is by invite only?

Wasn't there something about the NRM having a VIP guest booked for the tour?

Could it well be a certain gentleman who helped the NRM to buy the locomotive by donating a large sum of money and who's company has the license to operate the East Coast route.

Perhaps, but he does appear to be in a photter-like position, crouched down...

H'es just about to be apprehended by the bloke leaving the shed on the right who himself is entering live running lines while one of his exit safety routes is blocked.

No No! If you look carefully, he has a Brownie 127 strapped around his neck, so he's clearly keen to get a shot himself before it's too late.

The Friends of NRM "in-house journal" received today has the "official date" of the inaugural run listed as Feb. 25th. I noticed on checking that the NRM website still shows it as "TBA".

Not much chance as he stepped back to get a wider shot and got Delticated...
