Found these two very good videos on YouTube. The first one from the NRM channel sums up the emotions of the day rather well with interviews featuring Colin Green from Riley & Son (who gets very emotional), Penny Vaudoyer, Alan Pegler's Daughter and Sir William McAlpine amongst others:

The second video is from The Railway Engineer channel:

Had an e-mail from the NRM, thanking everyone for the response to the Flying Scotsman run yesterday. It included a link to a nice little official video here

There are also some further NRM posted videos on the right hand side of the page.

I think the most they will get is a free ticket to Brighton (both are Thameslink and Greater Northern trains!). I know you shouldn't laugh at anothers misfortune, but... :D

It was nice to see Penny Vaudoyer and Sir William McAlpine were invited on the trip, I wonder if any of Tony Marchington's family were on board as well.

    Regards,

    Dan

At this rate, Virgin Atlantic might as well charter a whole plane for British enthusiasts being accomodated for bowlage ;)

Worse for a friend of mine who was on Lancaster station and took a photo of Sir William Stanier on the Scottish Lowlander in 1964, then 60 years later to the day and date, was in the same place to photograph Duchess of Sutherland on the rerun, and guess what, yup a pendolino got in the way...... Sorry but that Flying Scotsman incident just cannot be compared....

True. Missing out on a shot of an A3 is far worse than missing a mere Duchess.
