Another smashing day out of seeing 60163
Was up nice and early this morning to go get it on its move from York to Doncaster at Colton and we got a nice blast on both the whistles something i've wanted for some time now...
then wowww! the amount of people that turned up at dinner was untrue, and some peoples parking is diabolical, i've never seen anything like it.
Anyway footage now online with the usual HD option.

    Footage Available Here

Great footage Simon. It looked busy at Colton as you would expect.

=D> I thought there was something wrong with the colour or JPEG compression when I first saw it!

@ Simon, lovely vid, at last HD that looks as good on my monitor as HD does on my TV.

Re the whistles, I was told on the train that one is a (replica?) A1 whistle, the one on the other side is a genuine A4 one, I think from Golden Fleece. Yesterday the driver obviously preferred the chime, but did pop the A1 one now and again.

@twomanydjs, sorry you had the same nightmare as me but worse. I might have kicked off myself if I hadn't got on that second bus, even when I did I thought I was doomed to miss Tornado, and turning a funny shade of purple. Its not like I could catch the next terain instead.

To think that 4 trainloads will fit in 2 coaches is naive to say the least - I only realised how lucky I was to get on a coach at all when I saw all the people left behind,.

I decided to go again today and a few minutes before she arrived it started to snow! (the sky really was that colour)

After yesterdays "chime fest" today was silent, going really well though.

Well our effort from today at Colton Junc (E+C) and Hambleton Junction with the train:

Sorry the sound isn't great in places, problems with a new microphone. Great to round off the weekend after a great day on the train yesterday (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=K7j-5gpwric).

A very memorable weekend. Once again congratulations to A1ST and all involved. I think we have much to look forward to with the momentum generated by Tornado.

Thats a cracking photo Stuart, I was very tempted to drive over again today but common sense got the better of me..(and SWMBO... 8-[ )
Thanks for sharing those video clips No7, she was certainly going well on the second to last clip =D> The buzzing on the earlier clip sounds like the sort of interference I got at Northallerton from the overheads when I went out for the test runs using an external mic. I found draping the tripod bag over the mic helped a lot, probably not the best thig long term though :-k

Has anyone on here spoken to any of the footplate crew during or after these runs, how does she steam and handle on the mainline and suchlike?

    Neil.

Great trip today, 60163 looks the business. She was toying with the load up to Durham, barely doing any work! Apologies for showing my ugly mug at the front window in your shot Swiss Toni!

Actually, if you look closely there appears to be a second fence line that they are standing behind. Possibly a narrow footpath adjacent to the railway?

I went as far as Gateshead and walked over the A1 Tyne Bridge to watch her turn in case she backed onto the bridge - which she didn't!! #-o

As I walked back to Central the first of the football loonies were running out of town and I stopped to ask the police if there was anywhere to get a quick cuppa that was safe!

Standing in the station courtyard behind a pair of double gates were at least fifty coppers in full riot gear!

Why do we tolerate these tribal idiots?? - and why don't we just march them up the Tyne Bridge and tell them to jump off! There is no place for them in any society that I inhabit!
