    Given the limited amount of use its had since its BR withdrawal and the conditions under which it has been kept, Mallards boiler is probably in relatively good shape, compared with most around, today! Certainly better than a certain A3! I seem to recall that the prime area of concern was the condition of the crown stays, which was why it had a limited period of use back in 1988. Anybody know anything more definitive?
