I am sorry but you are oh so wrong, it would be 8 Collet's, 2 Hawkesworth's, 1 Siphon and the TPO, as that was the Vintage Train that we wanted to get together in the late 70's. I helped do the lift for the TPO's inspection, but sadly nothing came of it

For those without FB, it reads "6023 update - the locomotive has passed its hydraulic boiler test today at Loughborough, in the presence of inspectors from the insurance company and the VAB (vehicle acceptance body)."

Good news to hear. Sadly I'm working this weekend on a btr but a colleague is heading up for the gala so will push him to get pictures of her. Well done to everyone involved in reaching this milestone.

Just for info, I was in Loughborough this afternoon and spotted a very large blue GWR loco with smoke coming out the chimney.
Not fully in steam, but I assume fire lit for steam test tomorrow. Well done (and good luck) to all concerned.

Just trying to work out from the image linked above why there appears to be steam blowing back from the base of the safety valves towards the top of the firebox.

I think there is a small hole drilled low down on the safety valve presumabley to drain water to prevent frost damage. It wouldn't be so obvious in warmer weather and when the bonnet is fitted.

Wouldn't that be normal with GW direct loaded safety valves? At least, the drawings I've seen seem to me to show that the steam would vent at the base rather than the top?

I saw the loco in action today a credit to everyone involved but i must say i think the blue does look good on the loco i hope they decided that the livery can stay on for a while longer.

I hope the Blue livery stays on for quite a while longer. Many people, myself included, are looking forward to seeing 6023 in blue livery. It is the "loco of the moment", especially after the long wait for the firebox repairs to be completed. The photos and videos of the loco in action at the GCR winter gala show that it looks breathtaking in blue. If the GWS were to rapidly re-paint the loco in late 1940's GW livery, I think they would be making a big mistake.

Who isn't glad to see 6023 out and about again?
The GCR seems to be the perfect place for The Blue King while she is preparing for the main line. She is staying at GCR after this Gala right for more adjustments to be made?
