Bewdley office confirmed the N2 is rostered for Sunday but couldn't confirm its diagram so still looking for that info.

I have to say riding in the GNR composite coach behind the N2 was one of the highlights of the Autumn Gala. Enjoy! It's a fine engine.

    Regards,
    Richard

    Of course it's a fine engine Richard, it's a Gresley. :)
Sadly it's unlikely to be hauling anything of GNR vintage tomorrow. I'm after doing some sound recording so hoping it's on a full line diagram so I can get the climbs out of Highley and up Eardington Bank.

I always find that there are more opportunities with a south facing loco.

Popped in to Bewdley Station this afternoon to see Tornado on the 3.00 ex Kidderminster - station packed and the 9 coach train - 7 teaks and 2 Carmine & Cream Mk 1@s was well loaded.

Thanks Matt2284 and BillR. Was hoping it was going to be on a full line diagram.

My take on Sunday is that the N2 is on the Highley local working, not full-line. Loco then stays at Kidderminster, presumably because it leaves the SVR (by road from Kidderminster) on 3rd November.

Tornado gives an impression of riding double track at Bewdley Saturday.

It looks good, but it's not as fine as you might think...There are a number of ancillary "issues" which take a lot of the fun out of the job.

The N2 certainly appears to be a good steam producer. Was behind it on Wednesday and keeping it quiet looked to be the main issue!
Just shows how useful the Waterman 0-6-2T will be when up and running. ( I appreciate that the GNR tank and the GWR tank are different animals, I mean generally that size of loco)

The Bridgnorth diagram on a Sunday includes the two Venturer diining cars which means it can load to 10 carriages which is too much for the N2 tank hence it's use on the Highley shuttle. This happened last week also.

N2 steam production is not as easy as you may think - it steams yes but the fire does not burn unless worked harder than otherwise necessary. Safety valves which constantly blow light give the illusion of plenty of steam but maintaining the water level in the boiler on an undulating line is not so easy & requires constant vigilance. Overall this loco is harder work than others of its size on load 8 but still a very interesting experience.

According to the Traffic Manager, to whom I spoke on Thursday, the N2 can take 10 coaches. The fireman would definitely be working for its living though.
