Received letter from PTR today to say tour on 13th June is cancelled. They say they tried, unsuccessfully, to secure another loco.
It would seem also that Tornado is rostered for the TE on 2nd & 9th August as well.

Yes Tornado is rostered for the two trips in August as well as confirmed by the A1 Trust on their website.
I believe from what I heard she was supposed to be doing four and then Nunney and the King were sharing the rest but obviously thats changed now.

Why? Do you know something that we don't ? There has been no official statement from the 6024 society. Let's hope that they manage to get the loco back onto the main line soon. The time on the boiler ticket is ticking away rather quickly. <BJ>

A quote from the letter from Past-Time Rail:
"...although the problem with King Edward 1 is not as serious as first thought it will not be available for mainline running until towards the end of July."

When was 6024's last mainline tour, December 2008? 2009 is looking like a very lean year for the group.

2008 wasn't great for her either.. This group have in the past been pretty well organised when it has come to overhauls and funding for them. I think this last couple of years though will be very testing for them though as she has spent more time out of traffic having money spent on her than in and can't of earnt much in way of revenue. All you can say is that whilst shes not running she's not incurring much wear and tear and all the work done now won't have to be done at the overhaul so hopefully when it does come round it will be relatively (in terms of express locomotives!) simple and inexpensive.
As an aside does anyone know what effect the water treatment they were trialling has has on the boiler?

I just meant that if she's out of service she won't be running the Torbay Expresses as it stands at the moment but having said that as the problems aren't though tto b as serious as said originally on here then praps she will, We can only hope and wait and see, as it will be nice to see her again.

An observation. 6024 has never seemed the same since SU parted company with her.

At the end of last year the boiler was reported to be in good internal condition, so the treatment seems to be working well.
