I was in Whitby at the weekend, so instead of an early start to see Lizzie through Stalybridge, instead I sauntered down to Scarborough station to watch her depart.

At the appointed time, the starter came off, and then the support crew appeared on the front of the ngine, apparently poking the air pump with a hammer and an oil drum for a while, meantime the signals went back down to allow a local service to arrive.

The secong time of asking, the starter wouldn't come off, which I found alarming as Lizzie set off anyway, knowing there was a huge cast iron 'boot' linked to the starter, I expected her to derail! After she'd gone, some NR staff came and poked around a bit, it seemed the derailer lifted OK, but the signal had stuck, 5 minutes and it all worked as one again.
