Ah but is Tornado a replica? When the Shuttleworth Collection built a WW1 Sopwith Triplane some years ago they invited Sir Tommy Sopwith - designer of the original and by then in his late 90s - to come and have a look. They asked him
if he considered it a replica but he said that he considered it not a replica but a late production model. So I reckon that's how we should view 60163.
As for 6100, great to see her stretching her legs again instead of being cooped up inside Bressingham. Fingers crossed that she makes the main line before long.

That rule applies to all locos about to venture out onto the main line after running in on a private railway. <BJ>

She has now done about 200 miles of running at the gala, those who came will know what I mean when I say she's a very impressive engine & works very well, very different to the 'doughters' said! If she was'nt well put together then she wouldnt have run trouble free as she has . No , not the main line , but quite a taxing running in all the same.
She's waiting for the loader now for a little fettling ,& then off somewhere else!

Is that "somewhere else" still a big secret and will it join another engine at the other place ?

Credit to all those at Southall, Bressingham and crewe who have got this fine engine back in steam.
Lets hope when she is back on the mainline she is well patronised and pays her way.No doubt then the armchair brigade will turn their "ex spurt" attention elsewhere in their typically unhelpful way.

    Ex spurt
(Ex is a has been and spurt a drip under pressure).

    Oh, dear, dear me... ](*,)

Anyway, looking forward to the Scot's Dee-lightful ( ), and currently still unofficial (until Steam Railway comes out, and despite the fact that The Railway Magazine has mentioned it twice already) visit to a certain railway event later this month, as I missed it at the WSR gala (the tyre incident). Has to be one of the worst-kept secrets going this side of summer...

Both mystery visitors are listed in Heritage Rail, Issue 122, last month, page 7

at least it is in the digital subscription version I get delivered every month, sometimes pages get pulled from the Digital version and dont make the shelf version so maybe it still is a secret....

The trouble with hearsay and rumours is that it can scupper plans.

The articles by the Railway Herald and Railway Magazine were pubished well before the Betton Grange Society had any confirmation of attendance (Subject to completion of repairs). When we did have confirmation, this was just in time for 6100 to be included in the SSS2 Souvenir Programme.
