Here Here, fully concur with your comments. Lets stick to facts and celebrate that we hopefully will have another main line steam loco running on the main line in the not to distant future.

A rumour that turned out to be entirely false. DBS continue to operate 3rd party traction.

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

Thank you to JS for confirming what is happening. I would like to point out that at no point did I suggest or insinuate that Britannia was not in a fit state to do the return run to Crewe. As I understand it, it is just a list of minor snags (as with any project) that need to be sorted before it is ready for full proving runs.

Looking forward to seeign it back out, hopefully early in the New Year.

    Regards,

    Dan

Reported at Lancaster 8.20. I was going to turn out, but having been forced into partaking a couple of large glasses of vino with my meal, and the fact it is now snowing hard here, I'm stopping in front of the fire..

    (a) It's my opinion your chances of SEEING a copy of a "snagging list is nil, getting hold of one ? well you can dream. It's c confidential matter.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, WHY do you want one, you can't do anything with it, you can't influence things. I can't understand WHY you want one. Oh and again, it just might be that 50/60 items is once again, pure speculation.

Couldn't agree more with you Victor on this! Why on earth Ashtog do you think your entitled to see this list. This is purely a matter for the parties involved and no one else, unless you have some sort of motive that you want to investigate or just simply stir up excrement!

Delighted to see 70000 is at least back on the main line albeit on a temporary certificate. I hope it has obtained its full certificate by February to allow it pick up its booked workings. Just a pity it won't be doing a Crewe -Carlisle 60th anniversary run over Shap in January as I beleive was mooted last year.

In defence of Ashtog, he only said he'd be interested, not that he had any entitlement. I'm sure we would all, if we came across it, read such a list with interest perhaps more out of technical interest in the locomotive and in the overhaul and approval processes as much as anything else. But for the perfectly vaid reasons others have given I don't suppose any of us here will get to see it and I am content with that. (Wikileaks anybody? )

Looks like you have to eat your words... according to UK steam info the trip is now two black fives from Victoria..45305+44932 fantastic. I'm booking on this one.
sadly it means neither Brit will make the show.

I answered your question and, from what you have put, I wasn't wrong. You asked for a Black 5 and a Black Brit. Two Black 5's doesn't answer your plea.
From what I knew, it was obvious that 70000 was never going to make it to the party, which is why I said 'unlikely'. No words to eat, I'm afraid. Unless you're eating yours.

Information published in Steam Railway no 383 suggests that both 70000 and 70013 will return to the mainline in March 2011.
