Thought that was 47541 "The Queen Mother", later replaced by 47620 "Windsor Castle" and later still by the 47/7s William and Henry ?

I believe it was 73142 for the southern, what was the ER engine ?

Britannia does of course have royal connections, but those connections are with the British Royal family, not some German one :) :)

There's a photo on the RailUK forum - note the white cab roof!

Like when she pulled King George VI's funeral train. Also nice to differentiate a bit from 70013.

Very nice and its good to have the early crest to make her different to 70013 and also how she appeared on the mainline in the 1990's. Apparently I've seen her like that (but without the white cab roof) at Didcot but I'm too young to remember it. Mind you as nice as she looks there I did like her in Black. I may have to book a trip behind a Brit on the mainline someday as the sound coming from 70000 going up Medstead Bank tender first was impressive.

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

70000 was impressive up Medstead bank in the Autumn. But if you want to be really impressed a trip on the ML behind a Brit is highly recommended!! I have only so far experienced 70013 and the sound and performance from her was very, very impressive.
Here are a few excellent examples from some of the runs I did with her:70013 didcot 720p - YouTube
Farewell Folkestone Harbour Branch III - With 70013 - Part 2 - YouTube
70013 Oliver Cromwell hauling the St David's Day Special 2009 - YouTube
70013 Oliver Cromwell Departs Reading 1st March 2009 - YouTube

On the last clip I was standing right near the front of her as she departed Reading. The sound as she pulled hard away from the station will stay with me for a long time!

Regarding 70000's repaint, I think she looks great in any colour. I hope to get a run behind her soon.

    Needs a 30A shed plate then :)

Looking mighty impressive back in green with the early crest and white cab roof. Hopefully HRH will be impressed with it.

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

I have been out and seen both 70000 and 70013 at Haywards Heath and both shall stay with me. The first was 70013 in 2009 and she flew through the station and then 70000 leaving the station in July last year I could hear her accelerating for quite a while which was great.

Is 70000 actually hauling the Royal Train or just being rededicated by Prince Charles. It mentions other places hes visiting that day but only mentions 70000's renaming.

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

I was on the 1/3/09 trip & 70013 put up a great performance all day. You must of been stood right near me at Reading as I also crossed to the (old) platform 8 to watch it depart. I think I said at the time that it was like watching a HST pull away. Shame Reading Station has been butchered since then, don't think the (old) platform 9 exists any more.

PSOV have just uploaded an old clip which illustrates this perfectly - Britannia through Surbiton, 1994 - i cant think of many video clips of steam that have ever impressed so much...

HRH Prince Charles to re-name 'Britannia' - The Railway Magazine Magazine

OK time for some speculation regarding this, it is rumoured that the Royal Train will be heading north the day before, ie 23rd, and then overnighting either in the Preston area or at Carnforth. Then travel to Preston in the morning from where Britannia will take over for the run via Copy Pit to Wakefield. Any further thoughts or even accurate information??

    Re: 70000 "Britannia" at Crewe

Back to Brits on the mainline again I just found this video posted by PSOV of 70000 arriving and departing Banbury 70000 Britannia celebrating the return to green and with a white cab roof (Part 1) - YouTube the sound she makes leasving is incredible.

Also I only discovered yesterday that 70000 has already carried a white cab roof in preservation. When did she lose this as I saw a picture of her at Didcot with it and depending on the date she may have had it when I visited Didcot in the early 90's. Mind you I was only about 3 so no wonder I can't really remember.

It had a white roof for a time in 1993 I think, probably to do something 'different'.
