The plot thickens. Charles will have a busy day at Barnsley but not at Wakefield. <BJ>

So they only have to clean up platform one and whichever end of platform two the loco is parked at! :)
I see even those who represent the Prince of Wales now use the American term "train station".

Wakefield probably the most convienent station to use, spare platform where the train can be stabled whilst the visits take place. Also makes sense if, as expected Britannia then goes on to York, maybe with the Royal train, which can then go south via the ECML.

Is Britannia pulling the Royal Train?, or is it a light engine move From Crewe to Wakefield? and Royal Train from Preston & meets Britannia at Wakefield
    Any clues at this time?

If the rumours are true then it seems to be steam hauled to Wakefield. Given the Prince's engagements in Barnsley I wonder whether Britannia will then haul the train south, or whether it will be detached and head straight to the NRM.

    Regards,

    Dan

THE question is: will "He" complain about the box on the back? :fear:

I doubt the train will go to Barnsley as there's only two platforms there and nowhere to stable and be away from the service trains. Plus south of Barnsley has a clearance problem at Hemmingfield tunnel.

I hear that brittannia will be turning on the Lostock Triangle on Monday or Tuesday morning, but if the rumours of routing over copy pit are corrct, why is it allowed through that tunnel where mk2s are meant to be OOG

    Are MkIIs really OOG?
I recall to mind the HST set that was engaged on filming duties for a BR TV advert some years ago and which ran up and down the line several times.
Surely HST stock is at least as wide and long as MkIIs?
All of that said, and in the event of pnemickey's 'rumours' being factual, are we also now to consider that the train might be re-routed via Chorley or Wigan and Man Vic ?
Given also the anticipated paucity of firm timings & route, the very early time of day off Preston AND the current weather forecast presenting as being abysmal, I might be forgiven for considering kicking this one into touch! (I do know where another BR green pacific is working elsewhere the same day .... and without a white cab roof .... and certainly without HRH's mega-size headboard!)

Mk2s have apparently been OOG since the track bed was elevated through one of the tunnels, or at least thats what I have been told. The WCRC ECS returning to Carnforth all turn off towards manchester at Hallroyd these days. You might recall a railtour only a couple of months ago, I think it was a pair of blacks 5s but might be wrong, that returned to Lancaster from Buxton via Hallroyd- Manchester as a late diversion to avoid copy pit.

I am told there are now no clearance problems with the Royal Train on the Copy Pit route, in fact it ran over there last year!
