Saw the tour at Stafford this morning. It passed through on the down fast, which had signals at red until Brittania was under the footbridge. They then cleared to green which led to a fantastic display of steam and sound from the engine. Great fun!

Just back off this one, really good day. 70000 gave an assured performance throughout. The 30 min late start(due to minor operational farce mentioned earlier)had all been made up by Litchfield. Return trip virtually on-time/early throughout. Large numbers lineside everywhere and mainly good sunny weather. One good advantage of Chester as a destination is that the ECS and loco are berthed in sidings directly by the main platforms thus giving everyone ample opportunity for photos ect.

After hearing Britannia running from Willesden to Bristol on Thursday, I agree, Britannia is one hell of a noisy beast.
So what has changed over the past twelve months to make such a difference? <BJ>
