A spokesman for the group is reported in RH latest issue that the debt to NNR is now paid, main line gubbins more or less complete, hope to run to Cromer this year and seriously considering relocation to ELR as home base in due course.

Sad to hear she is leaving Norfolk but I guess a move back up North was always on the cards

More good stuff possibly for ELR. The move of 34092, near completion of Flying Scotsman and a strong chance of having 76084 move. All within Ian Riley land.

It will be sad to 76084 leave the NNR but either, with WD nearing completion, Y14 able to pull the skins off rice puddings again and the B12 expected back in traffic next season (assuming nothing too dreadful is found once the bogie is out) plus Black Prince and Ring Haw (currently away i think), that's a pretty good home-owned (M&GNJRS and NNR) stable, then there's the lovely 1306 (although that is likely to be gallivanting during the high season :) ) and I'm not sure whether George Stephenson is due back? Anyway the point being that their might be too much motive power to provide adequate steaming days for all...and the plan is to run some Cromers first, so we'd best make the most of those

What was the problem with the Y14?

IIRC new bits made during overhaul to replace life expired items took some time to bed in and marry up to old bits that had worn to peculiar shapes but didn't have enough material left to machine back to true without running the risk of needing to replace very expensive bits. The hope was the new bits would wear to fit but it was happening too slowly so in the end they shaped the new bits to a near match and then let them wear to fit...Not a very technical answer :). I can't remember what the bits involved were and have passed on my Joint Line to my Dad. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you which bits - Edit. I still have that Joint Line. It was new slide valves but the slide faces in the steam chest were concave. They tried to allow them to bed themselves in but it took too long so they hand scraped the new valves to a concave shape to match

Thanks for the info, always problematical making old and new work well together where a good seal is required.

Yes I certainly wasn't criticising, just so grateful that people take the time and trouble to sort these things out so we can enjoy these fantastic machines

Funding for mainline equipment is almost completed and it will be great seeing her on the mainline. Her support coach is ready for the job in question and was even paired for a short time with LNER B1 no 61306 Mayflower. Once the funding has been completed the owning group will be cracking on with sorting out her support crew, last update I had off the lads was a few people have been asked if their interested in helping out and depending if funding is completed in record time she could be out for a test run on the Hellifield circuit in the early half of 2016.
