I thought the PBR had a pannier that is being restored with a dean goods boiler rather than having a pannier boiler?

At SVR, so that's 8 out of 16 boilers at 3 locations making my figure correct still ;)

    6412, 6430 and 6435 too!

Regarding the Castle's the missing link is 4079 at Swindon which seems to have been forgotten about by previous posters.

Interesting to note of the 4 surviving GWR Manors the SVR has three, it's entire Manor allocation.

    What part of 6399 survives?

    and 7 out of 14 would be 50% !

anyway , off the top of my head that wasn't bad going

    but for completeness

    1501 SVR
    6430 Llangollen
    6435 Bodmin
    6412 West Somerset

3650 is also currently at Swindon

    9400 Swindon
    9466 Mid Norfolk

I had a conversation of Deans Good Boilers today , of which two survive
also the SVR presumably has the boiler from 3612 , The boiler from 9629 also survives

Now to throw the cat amongst the pigeons

Frames , wheels cylinders and motion are relatively straightforward to build . We could have a Deans Goods

Another dean goods would be very welcome and useful, I doubt 2516 will run again.. If you can forgive 6.5 inches you could use the wheels of 3612, and it's cylinders to go with one of them boilers.

Re 6399.. several parts of the motion on 6100 were apparently found to be stamped 6399.

Now if it weren't for the rules governing a locos identity, interchangeable parts would be a whole new can of worms...!

6412 is now based at the South Devon Railway, where she started out in preservation I believe.

    Is there a difference between a P Class boiler on a 57xx and a P Class boiler on a 2301?

    Back to Manors.

I knew a retired Banbury driver who said there was an allocation at Banbury to work "expresses" over the Banbury & Cheltenham Direct.
His comment about the pre re-draughting are not printable here, they simply would not steam on the heavy grades of the B&CD and a 43xx was preferred.

    Cheers Dave

75% of the surviving P class tanks are at the Bluebell (27, 323, 178). And if you broaden the mad statistics thread to "locos of any class from one railway company", then 75% of all the surviving SECR locos are based there (and with a following wind, all 6 of those locos could be running simultaneously in 2016).

All the remaining Maunsell U boats are split 50/50 between the Bluebell and the Mid Hants (two at each line).

Don't think there are any such rules are there? Back in the day wasn't the only factor how they wanted the job to appear on the company books? ceratinly the case with the GWR which was quite happy to label the same job as either a rebuild or as a new locomotive depending on which budget had the cash at the time.
