There seems to be a great deal of emotion written into some of the posts on this link about the future steaming and avalability of 850 Lord Nelson.
Maybe they should see what the eventual outcome of the repairs being carried out at Ropley by the ERPS and Mid Hants loco dept on the loco . there are quite a number of issues with it that they will work their way through to enable the loco to firstly work trains over the Alps without difficulty and RELIABLY before thoughts turn to a possible return to the main line.
Its never a case of dismantle, clean, paint it and put it back together!!!.
With a set of main driving wheels showing an inbalance and having to be removed and repaired it shows that the MHR are taking this very seriously, as a loco that runs at any speed and has an inbuilt vibration all the time its moving is not doing itself any good.... Nor the components on it eg the boiler and firebox , Was this the cause of the brick arch collapsing at Westbury?.
Lets see what happens what I want to see is a reliable and running loco that we can all enjoy ......
Oh and as 30850 then it would fit in with the MHR image ,,, ducks and runs for cover.
