"Loaned" rather than given. It went to the NNR for safe storage, and was still there last I heard. I'm an armchair member of ERPS and nothing has been said to the membership about whether or not EPRS will remain custodians of 850. Personally, I'm hoping they do. Although Jesse Moody has stepped down from his official possitions, there are still plenty of knowledgeable people in the society. I guess the relevant people will be having discussions, probably round about now.

Yes the ERPS BSK 35317 is still in store on the NNR. Things have been happening in the background over creating a support crew and back up for 850. More detail in the next edition of "Steam On" (ERPS newsletter) published in the next few days.

    Regards, Neil

It used to be painted on the shunters truck in GWS Didcot many years ago. It was just too good to be forgotten ....

    Cheers, Neil

Latest info is that, apparently, 850 has been banned from the Harrogate circle. Same bridge as caused problems last year.
The Scot is also banned - which is an even bigger shame.
Info not from an A1 source however - perhaps there's still a chance?

I wonder if we are all repeating each other's rumours? My source for the info about 850 and the Harrogate circle was the GWSR web site, so that ought to be fairly reliable...

Given that the problem with 6233 was that it struck the bridge with the front corner of the clothing of its belpaire firebox, are network rail assuming that all belpaire firebox locos will have the same problem. Are Class 5s, Jubilee 5690 and 8F 48151 passed for this line?
A4s, of course, have round top fireboxes, so no problem with them.

45231, 60009 and 34067 have all circumnavigated the Harrogate circle in the last 12 months. Railtrack tend not to assume that one loco is "the same as" any other. I've heard of them measuring several members of the same class (Black 5, A4) in case there are small differences.

No.E850 will be rostered for the following services.

    Saturday & Sundays 12/13/19/20th July on Diagram S2 operating 11.15am, 1.15pm and 3.15pm ex-Loughborough and return workings.

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th will be rostered on one of three steam diagrams for the 'Mail by Rail' gala, with the possibility of a mail drop, freight trains and the Railway Vehicle Preservation 40th Anniversary train being part of the diagram (you never truly know until the train departs!).

5690 is passed for the route as is 30777. The 8F should be Ok for the route as far as gauging is concerned but as it is a 50 mph loco I would doubt that NR would want to path it between Leeds & York. I was once told that Black Fives had the same kinetic envelope as a 156 so, in theory at any rate, should be able to go almost anywhere!
The source I quoted concerning 850 & 6115 told me the info came from NR via WCRC. I'd rate the info B1.

As discussed elsewhere, this year's SSE timings are a lot slacker than last years, which makes me think they were devised with a 50mph loco in mind.

34 minutes Leeds - York in each direction? I think not.

Many thanks Jamie. If there is a half decent weather forecast this weekend I'll be on my way!

Hopefully they'll get out some of the green stock for the occasion.
