They completely shut off through Berwyn. 4566 and 80072 were the stars of the show today.

GWR locos have normally done this, I remember we did it when we ran a non-stop with 4953.

There was a restriction during BR days here, but I seem to remember it's being cautious with regards to gauging as well. All the better for punters really, as it means locos have to slow down going uphill briefly :D

According to a recent book (The Ruabon to Barmouth Line by Martin F Williams pub Lightmoor Press 2015) there has always been a 25 mph speed restriction through the station due to the curvature of the line and it applies in both directions.

Nothing to do with weight, just a sensible run through the platform because of the cylinder clearances.

A very enjoyable, yet wet at times day in the Dee Valley today.

Sorry for posting this on here but my Dad left his camera bag next to the track in the parking area near the bridge after Berwyn station with his Panasonic GS500 still inside. Has anyone on here seen it or heard about it being handed in?

Had a fantastic day in the Dee valley today with a fantastic show put on by everyone at Llan. An excellent timetable, interesting formations, good visitors plus a relevant and appropriate theme for the area made this a really top event in my book. The double headed manors were spectacular, and there was even some Welsh sunshine on offer! DSC_8637.JPG DSC_8604.JPG

A very enjoyable visit today, April showers in full swing. The two manors looked and sounded great, the 45xx has really cleaned up since being allowed to get dirty last month, very good timetable again and great to see some unusual sets out. Had a nice run up the bank behind the Standard 4. Thanks to all involved.

Gallery from my visit today here... http://preservedrailway.weebly.com/llangollen… video to follow tomorrow.

I was only able to visit on Friday, but what a great day. Fantastic first run with the Manors, a good timetable and trains more or less on time all day. Very well done to all involved.
