Yes I am an active volunteer
    I
I only gave WDAG figures for 5660 on the S&C and 5596 up to Honiton. I don’t have to hand how
the 5660 test train was made up but using BR coach resistance figures the EDHP for 5660 is c,1480
    and for 5596 EDHP 1370.

I appreciate Big Als comments re a different driving environment in 1937 so I have looked at recent
experiences with Jubilees twixt Carnforth and Carlisle.
On 4/9/21 5699 with 435tons breasted Shap at 28.5 mph, apparently sustained over the last mile at 1/75.
An EDHP of c.1430. This was the best of three runs, the others only ( would have been thought good in the
1950s) managed 22.5 and 23.5 ( the latter with 460 tons and after falling to 19.5 mid climb )

On 18/5/19 5690 produced what I think must be the ultimate, 38.5mph on the 1/106 before Grayrigg,
with 440 tons an EDHP of c.1530, and 29.5 on the 1/75 to Shap p, also an EDHP c.1530.

Based on these figures I have yet to see a performance by the double chimney loco surpassing them.
It would be good to see her taken over Shap driven in a similar fashion.

No I do not currently volunteer
The two things that stood out for me were the fast pick up from the starts and the endurance on the climbs. Grateley was remarkable. I would suggest that the five miles of 1 in 80 of Honiton is more challenging than Shap. Full detail in my column which is in the HR due out June 9. I have also had some very good runs with Galatea so will look those up. Maybe further debate off group?
