    I can confirm that I have bought AE 1600 for restoration , I also saved HC 1776 which was purchased by the same scrap dealer this loco is under overhaul at the moment , John Marrow

    John, thanks for the info. Do you own HE3776 too and are you still planning to transplant HC 1776 boiler?

    Hi yes I do own HE3776 , not too sure what I'm doing , the progress with the bottom end of HC 1776 is my main interest so it will probably keep its own , I also own HE 2414 for my sins .

    John, AE 1600 is definitely not a B3. 'Lucy' and MDHB No21 shown in the photos above are B3's as are the preserved MDHB No26, 'Woolmer' and 'Sir John' but 'Robert' is considerably larger. Off-hand I can't think what class it is but I can assure you that very few parts are interchangeable with B3's - better not say how I know this on a public forum!!!! Ray.

    A google search pulled up that the NRM has copies of the Avonside order books from c. 1864-1935. The copies are located in box ALS3/103/A/1 according the the pdf file I downloaded.

    So what's the 0-6-0 'Robert' on a plinth outside Stratford shopping centre? It was there in November 2014..

    Scrapped I believe John around 1986 after they finished the Iron Duke replica. Crying shame just like Hurricane in '81.
