    Mike - Slight language issue here. We try not to "break" our engines here in the UK. But there will no doubt be some "running-in" turns to find and remedy any snags, which I guess you would call "snagging".

    That is what I mean. I have heard different people say different things. I also like the term Test Run.

    How much room do Crewe or Carnforth have? There is length of track at Washwood heath and nice little bank too. Plus a few diesels there if a load is required. I'm sure it will be adequately tested before it is let out on the big railway.

    Which is why the current phrase is "shakedown trials".

    From the facebook page;

    61306 goes out onto the mainline in light steam being towed by a class 31 for a positioning move tomorrow morning which takes it through New Street Station

    Cropped shot coming round the curve into Nuneaton hauled by 31601 (I think - why no number on the loco?). Not the most inspiring location but I don't know anywhere else within 20 mins walk of the station, with a small cloud obligingly covering the sun just as they come around the corner. B1 looking great even in the temporary dull.

    And a full size going away shot with a better view of the B1.

    Through Nunny? - rats - I was home today and could have seen her.

    Interesting to see the progress on the new goods avoiding line in the background.

    Is this the first time for this loco on the national network since 1968?

    Anyway here's the phot from this morning as promised: Washwood Heath | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

    61306, in the livery stated above, was seen this afternoon passing through Peterborough, being hauled by DCR 31.601.

    She has 61306 on her bufferbeam. No smokebox numberplate. There's 2 videos of her one arriving on the MNR.

    Re: B1 (6)1306

    Thinking about the turning move on Wednesday, would I be right in thinking this was the first Steam Loco on the Kings Norton - New St via Selly Oak & Five Ways line since the 60's ?.
