Would be very interested where this story about a 1964 repaint came from as from my recollections of travelling on the line in 1964 and Geoff Plumb's 'Plumb Loco' website appear to show Loco Dark Green weathered and too-vigorously scrubbed - witness the Late Emblem on #8 - scrubbed off the central tank rivet lines. The coaches appear to be in malachite green! Maybe it was the coaches that were repainted in 'Cambrian bronze green'? The locos look little different from a spamcan. Another thing to consider was that the VoR runs East-West. Photographers would prefer the sun behind them so most photos would naturally be of the southern, sun-bleached side. This bleaching also happened to the L&B but at least they could turn the coaches at Pilton to even out the bleaching process.
