    Just to let people know....

'Barrow Hill is holding a one day Diesel event to celebrate 20 years since BR vacated the Roundhouse on Saturday 5th February 2011. Open times from 10.30 until 15.30.

    The admission price is £10.

09012 plus Class 20’s 096/107/121/132 will be operating (all locos are subject to availability and are courtesy of HNRC).

    Planned roster (subject to alteration)

    10.30 - 12.30 20121/132 09012 on rear

    12.30 - 14.30 20096/107 09012 on rear

    14.30 - 15.30 20096/107/121/132 09012 on rear

The DPS depot and the Roundhouse will be open for static viewing. There's plenty to see in the roundhouse whether your interested in diesel, steam or electric traction! The cafe, shop and museum will also be open throughout the event.

As far as I know there are no free shuttle buses for the event but the service 90 bus from Chesterfield/Staveley drops of near the car park entrance.

I will do my best to post any developments on here, but if not please do check the Barrow Hill website (which should be updated to include this event on Monday!)

Also please note that on the following Wednesday (the 9th) a special presentation has been organised, presented by Mervyn Allcock and looking at the developments of the roundhouse in the preservation era right from the early days up till the present. The show should be followed by some celebratory fireworks (weather permitting). It'd be great to see a good turn out for it. Doors open 19:30 and we expect to finish by 22:00.
Further details can be found on the Barrow Hill website and in the BHESS Social Evenings thread on here.
