Their Facebook page is one of the best. It's regularly updated with images of progress for people to keep up to date with how it's going. It shouldn't be too long until she is steaming now.

Isn't this pic from 2017? Or has the boiler now been finished?

Boiler looks to have cladding fitted, was that the case in 2017 (haven't got time to look back sorry).

Edit - sod it, its more interesting than work. That does appear to be the 2017 picture, the latest news http://www.6880.co.uk/news/ suggests that the boiler still needs some stays and also tubing.

Who are going to be the first to get both the Saint and Grange together for a gala?

If my memory serves me right, the boiler used for creating the cladding and plumbing seen here in 2017 was from 5952 Cogan Hall whilst 6880's boiler (from 7927 Willington Hall) was being repaired at Tyseley. Could be mistaken though. :)

The boiler from 7927 is the one that has been restored and subject to steam tests at Tyseley over the last few days.

Surely the crowning glory of Western galas would be to get a representative of each GW 4-6-0 in one place at one time - Saint, Star, Castle, King, Hall, Grange, Manor. Of course the Star would have to be static (if it can be removed from its current location - York or Swindon?), but even failing that put 6 different GW classes of 4-6-0s together somewhere like the Severn Valley on GW coaches and you would have all the Swindonites drooling!

West Somerset had a good crack at this a number of years ago and that was a brilliant event, however with the obvious gaps - so where do I need to go?!!

Severn Valley has to be the obvious location with their coaches and ability to put on an event of this size. Although I would live to see Llangollen have first crack with Grange and Saint given their significant input.

Didcot seems a more obvious choice, they already have a King two Castles a Hall a modified Hall a Manor and a Saint all they're missing is a Grange and a Star.
A line up of all of them outside the loco shed would be impressive.
