Bryan, we visited the Bluebell Railway on a normal operating day on 5th October. The loco / coaching stock combinations were:
32424 'Beachy Head' hauling six SR green coaches (+ supporters group LNER observation car at the rear)
34059 hauling SR green stock + 2 blood and custards
73082 hauling 4 blood and custards (afternoon tea)

We thought that all three rakes looked very smart. <BJ>

It's almost like, for operational reasons, railways can't always manage to pair locos with stock in liveries that would have been around at around the same time the loco was previously wearing it's current livery...

The Bluebell trimming team get a 4 page write up in the Feb Railway Magazine, an interesting article I thought.

Yes, I obviously understand that. It just seemed that the really old coaching stock was coupled to mid-1960s used locos rather a lot from Autumn onwards last year - at least when I checked when I was hoping to drive over for the day.

Following the HRA awards on Facebook, and three awards for Bluebell projects:
    • The Steam Locomotive Award goes to 'Beachy Head'
    • The Morgan Award for Rolling Stock Preservation goes to Car 54
    • The Steam Railway Readers' Award also goes to 'Beachy Head'
Well done to both projects (and to all the other award winners on the night).

Yes. We had three four wheelers both days to travel in, and left at Horsted for the above.

I believe HK box can be switched out, for a straight route through P3 (I think) and a long-section SP-KG.

It's good to see the railway actively promoting what are in many ways part of our USP, i.e. vintage stock and small engines working hard! For many years we would almost invariably have lots of vintage stock running, yet hardly ever mention the fact or draw attention to the fact that there is something special, not just the usual diet of Mark 1s. So seeing it actively promoted is very welcome in my eyes.

It's also been interesting over the winter to see just how much social media promotion there has been of the value of joining the BRPS. Food for thought maybe for those lines where the membership is perceived as a costly overhead ;)

The Bluebell Railway website seems to be off line this morning.
https://www.bluebell-railway.com/ gives 'This site can’t be reached' error.
I seem to be ok for many other websites, so I don't think it's my connection that faulty.
