Wasn't too bad last year either, at least not on the Saturday, although two years ago was stunning with the four Bulleids together.

Nice to hear that 75027 and 92240 have had a chance to stretch their legs (even dead) and will be nice to see them in a different setting over the gala weekend.
Anyway, with less than 24hours until the start of the gala, I ask if anyone can confirm if platform tickets aren't available, was going to purchase rover tickets but didn't in the end, so needs to know whether or not they will let me on the platform without a travel ticket on Sunday. I will have a big bag of 20+ ink cartridges probably to go towards the extension for HK office on the Sunday though so they will hopefully be happy with that although I doubt the Bluebell gets too much out of recycling cartridges?

Won't be there until Sunday but some mates will be manning the 34081 stall at HK. You'll be more than welcome to spend vast amounts of money with us. :)

Good to see the 2 Standards will be on show at HK. Any news on how it's going today? Looking forward to tomorrow but the weather forecast is not too good. Hopefully it will brighten up by the time we arrive after 11.00.

Just got back from the Bluebell and I have to say that it had a fab turnout! Plenty of people!! 34059 and 1638 were running today - 34059 looks superb as ever!!

I shall be at Kingscote for the first train of the day from there. I'm looking forward for my first sighting of 34059 and I think I'll be after a photo where the rain can be seen running nicely down the boiler casing! That nice weather man seems to be up to his old tricks with the weather again.
Glad to hear that 1638 is also working.

    Cheers,

    Paul

May see you around then Paul? I'll be the 14 year old seeing how many people he can take out with his tripod as usual and if wet directing mum with the umbrella over the camera! Then same on Sunday at HK if they let me have a platform ticket which I doubt will be available and north of Leamland Bridge. Although our forecast here was for rain all day, and we've had glorious blue sky all day!
Maybe it won't rain this weekend, I hope so!

Cheat! How can you get your mother to come with you to a gala and hold your umbrella? Of course, a good enthusiast like myself (no reply neccesary) does it all by myself, no help getting anywhere, all on my own money.

1638 & 34059 both looked superb with their respective coaching stock today.

1638 is hauling the Maunsell set all weekend, with no saloon or obseravation added.

34059 will be hauling the pullmans tomorrow and Sunday.

The Observation car is not in service this weekend however the GN saloon will be on the 11am departure from Sheffield Park.

Further to that, I shall be the Guard on the Maunsell set on Sunday, so if spotted, don't be shy!

Just had an enjoyable day at the gala, it was good that the premium fares weren't charged for what basically was a normal service.

Two problems though, the four coach trains at a gala? No where near enough seats for the passengers and that attended today, not on the first couple of trains, looking at the guide the sets aren't going to be strengthened and no on train catering.

Well, being 14 it is quite hard to get to the Bluebell on my own from the other side of the Ashdown Forest! And seeing as my parents will be with me, I may as well take advantage of mum having an umbrella, although of course I still carry my camera e.t.c around myself, not that lazy!

1638 didn't have any problems at all! 34059 gleamed! Sadly had to come home early because of illness! (Not with me, but the Wife) :-(

Cool thanks. It's an early gala start for me tomorrow because my Dad is dropping me off in his break from work in the morning (He works locally and can hear the trains). Another thing can you buy Pete's book in the shop and still get it signed by him. I might see you on Leamland with my mobile tomorrow Dgraw. I'll be an 18 year old with glasses.
