30777 is shown on the roster as working the 'B' service all weekend. There are four engines in steam on Saturday with 178 doing a carriage and wagon shunt turn!

Is this one likely to be a 'downloadable roster' job or is it a case of buying a programme when we get there? I probably won't make it, but some of the Kent-based 'family elders' were probably heading that way.

Bluebell news page says that firebox repairs on 34059 are hoped to be completed in time for a steam test on the Friday of Giants and possibly running on the Sunday

Looks like 178 and 592 have been pulled from the event according to the loco roster which is a bit disappointing as they were the ones I really wanted to see!

I'm starting to wonder whether it will be worth attending - last year was underwhelming, this year is not looking any better

Some lovely sequences there from Saturday. Me and my Dad went to Freshfield Bank for the 1pm and got a reasonably good shot of 30777 albeit with drifting smoke producing some shadow over the loco. We then went to the south end of Three Arch Bridge where the embankment dips down for the delayed 3pm train and ended up rather annoyed as there was a huge lump of cloud covering the sun, it then cleared only for it to go back in just as the train was within meters of us. Twenty seconds earlier or later and the train would have been fully lit up in sun, damn it sods law always happens! Always next w/e I guess though :)

I visited the Bluebell Railway for the second Saturday of 30777 ‘Sir Lamiel’s visit for this year’s ‘Giants Of Steam Gala’ and I have posted the film on YouTube in HD.

Locations are Horsted Keynes, in and around Kingscote, and Sheffield Park. Locomotive in steam are 30777 ‘Sir Lamiel’, 80151 and E4 0-6-2T B473. Other, out-of-steam engines in the video are No3 ‘Captain Baxter’, 1638 which was still showing evidence of its use in a film shoot, BB Class ‘Sir Archibald Sinclair’ and SECR C Class 592.

The film can be found at the link below and I hope everyone enjoys it.

Is 30777 runnning solo or double headed on Saturday and anyone know what time its first train of that day is.

Also on a different note has the shop at Sheffield Park got the book Tornado 21st Century Steam in stock. Would like to get this weekend.

I have not seen any timetables published yet but looking at loco roster it would seem 30777, 80151, 1638 and B473 are each doing one train in a four train serivce, 178 and 592 do not seem to be listed and 34059 replaces B473 on Sunday. However on the 'trains for the coming week' page 178 and 592 are listed, in which case there may be some double heading. Will have to wait and see unless someone knows more!

On the draft timetable 30777 was due to run solo all day on Saturday, starting with the 10am from SP. Hope that helps, but obviously usual disclaimer applies!

    Cheers,
    Jon

55 and 672 will be running Ardingly and Imberhorne shuttles I assume, so they may double/triple head to get them to HK and Kingscote.

Looking at the 4 coach sets, some photters may be upset.

Set A - 3X Bulleids, Christine, Fingall (Pullman cars) and the LMS BGZ
Set B - 3X Mk 1s, Bulleid and GN Saloon
Set C - 3X Mk 1s, Blood & Custard Lounge Car, Mk 1, Blood & Custard Lounge Car
    Set D - SECR 100 Seater, 3x Maunsells

The vintage set appears not to be in use but it wasn't meant to be last year either, but it replaced the engineers train to cope with higher than anticipated passenger numbers on Sunday.

My Dad text me earlier and apparently the filming is for Sherlock Holmes 2 with Robert Downy Jr and Jude Law so possibly some more publicity for the line.

Don't know if this is true and who was/is present for filming though.

No that's not correct. The film is "The Women in Black" starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Is it oh well. My Dad said someone at his work saw filming equipment and someone else thought they saw Jude Law and as he's in Sherlock Holmes they must have drawn that conclusion.

Given that the event starts tomorrow there seems to be remarkably little information about this, even on the Bluebell web site. Can someone please tell us what time it starts each day?
