50017 is being threatened with scrapping for spare parts. The loco is for sale but will be cut up for spares if no one buys it. The loco also has scrap size tyres. Some one out there has started a crowd funding appeal to save Royal Oak. I only found out today from Pip Dunn on Facebook.

It’s all over the preserved diesels Facebook group. A sale of it fell through so loco will be dismantled for spares

    It’s also Neil Boden

I think Stuart has more than enough on his plate with mounting storage costs presumably for both the engine and coach coupled with whatever liabilities attach to them . I do hope that this is the last we will see if the fantasy schemes

Look like it has gone to the great central railway this does look to be a good end as they in the future will be able to heat the mk2 e coaches to show what cross country trains of the 1980s were like.

Presumably GCR(N) at Ruddington rather than Loughborough?

So by threatening to scrap it, the owner has got a buyer?

Bit like Woodhams - whenever the flow of purchasers for locos slowed down, he threatened to start cutting them up again to re-start the money rolling in.
