Bit beyond my Photoshop skills I'm afraid, and only having Elements as opposed to the full blown version limits what I can do.

Left out of the station after crossing the road, then it is down the hill to the "Soldiers Return" pub then take the footpath on the left of the pub, keep following the path, the railway is always on your right, you will pass a Rugby/Football/Cricket field on your left. Keep walking past the first encounter with the railway and you enter a field. This is where I stood . If this link works it is the triangular field in the Satellite view. https://goo.gl/maps/e8TgB The bushes in the satellite view have gone now. It is just as easy, and similar distance from the Metropolitan/Piccadilly line "Ickenham Station", left out of Ickenham Station (Glebe Road), right onto the main Road (Long Lane) past the Ickenham Pump (Coach & Horses, Old Fox Pubs), past the petrol station that is on the left and on the left is the Soldiers Return Pub as above.

My video from Sunday, including a shot of 34046 with it's whistle stuck wide open, as well as catching the evening sun as it passes through Leamington Spa:

Some lovely videos posted on here, and Liam, thanks for the comment on the video - good to meet you too!

    Bill,

    Many thanks indeed.

Particularly appreciate the pubs information. Next time there's a steam excursion through there, I'll look out for you (wear a red carnation!) and buy you a pint in one of them.

    Cheers!

Sorry for the delay Liam. Ive only just found time to get back to having a read through this thread.

The first two images were taken from the A423 road bridge (Busy main Road! Banbury-Southam-Coventry-Rugby) so there is easy access. I was really lucky though as the sun went behind a thin cloud. Its almost side on to the right at that time of day and if it had been out it would have caused strong shadow problems.
There is also the problem of the signal which cuts the train in half if you take the shot from the righthand side of the bridge. A step ladder is helpful as well if you are a short arse like myself! For video you would need to hang your mic over the bridge to avoid traffic noise from the road!

    Hope that helps................Rick

Had a look at where David took his photo there is an under bridge and a level crossing not that far from the lane.
I can't see what some of you are bitching about David took a nice picture from a crossing gate so what! he wasn't fly tipping or doing damage.
    Get a life.

    Cheers Dave

This is not a forum to pursue a witch hunt based on incomplete evidence or based on personal opinion . It serves no use to the forum nor the individuals concerned . We should be enjoying the wonderful sight of 34046 on a fine spring evening doing what it was designed to do and not arguing about legal semantics as to whether being on a lane is legal or not
